Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 Global Variants & Redmi Note 17 Series Gain Crucial Certifications
Xiaomi's highly anticipated foldable, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, has taken a significant step towards its market release. The device, identified by the model number 2608BPX34C, has reportedly received certification from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This suggests an imminent launch for Xiaomi's next-generation foldable flagship.
Early indications point to a redesigned form factor for the Mix Fold 5, potentially adopting a wider aspect ratio reminiscent of competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Ultra. The internal folding display is rumored to measure a substantial 7.6 inches diagonally. Powering this innovative device is expected to be Xiaomi's proprietary Xring O3 SoC, the successor to last year's Xring O1.
Running the latest software, the Mix Fold 5 is slated to launch with Android 17, overlaid with Xiaomi's refreshed HyperOS 4 interface. Leaks also suggest a formidable camera setup, featuring a 200MP main sensor, a robust 6,000 mAh battery, and a convenient side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
In parallel, Xiaomi's budget-friendly Redmi lineup has also seen recent progress. The global variants of the Redmi Note 17 (model number 26081RA18G) and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max (model number 2609FRA74G) have been certified by Thailand's NBTC. While this certification primarily confirms their readiness for sale in the Thai market, it corroborates earlier findings from NCC and Eurofins certifications.
Previous certifications have revealed impressive specifications for the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, including a massive 9,210 mAh battery with support for blazing-fast 100W wired charging. Furthermore, the Pro Max model is expected to boast an IP68 rating, providing significant protection against dust and water ingress.
