Xiaomi Mix Fold 5: In-House Chipset and Imminent Launch Hinted
The foldable smartphone landscape is buzzing with anticipation as a new report suggests Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its latest foldable device, potentially named the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5. This follows a significant gap since the Mix Fold 4's debut nearly two years ago.
Evidence pointing to the next-generation foldable has emerged from the Mi Code database. The device, identified by the model number 2608BPX34C and codenamed 'lhasa', carries the internal designation Q18 – a number reportedly reserved for Xiaomi's foldable iterations. While the 'Mix Fold 5' is the speculated moniker, the possibility of it being marketed as the 'Xiaomi 17 Fold' also exists.
A key revelation from the code pertains to the chipset powering this upcoming device. It is expected to feature Xiaomi's own Xring O3 SoC, demonstrating the company's continued investment in in-house silicon development. This follows the introduction of the Xring O1 chipset in devices like the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7S Pro last year.
Industry observers are looking towards an August launch for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5. However, it is important to note that the device is anticipated to be exclusive to the Chinese market.
