Vivo Y500s Makes a Splash with Massive 7,200mAh Battery; Y600 Pro Teased with Colossal 10,200mAh Powerhouse
Vivo is making waves in the smartphone market with the unveiling of the Vivo Y500s, a device engineered for endurance thanks to its substantial 7,200mAh battery. This single-cell unit boasts a typical capacity of 28.23Wh and supports rapid 44W Flash charging via USB-C. Vivo claims this colossal battery can keep you entertained with nearly 24 hours of continuous TV show playback or provide 15.5 hours of navigation on a single charge. Even when down to 20% power, the Y500s can still manage around 3 hours of navigation in power-saving mode.
The Y500s features a Blue Ocean 3 battery, designed for resilience in extreme temperatures, functioning reliably in environments ranging from -20°C to 40°C. Vivo further emphasizes its longevity, rating it for 1,600 charge cycles. This translates to approximately 6 years of general usage while retaining at least 80% of its original capacity, a testament to its durable design.
Visually, the Vivo Y500s sports a 6.75-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,570 pixels and a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. The front is adorned with an 8MP selfie camera featuring an f/2.1 aperture, perfect for capturing your best angles.
The rear camera system is headlined by a capable 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a significant upgrade compared to the 13MP camera found on the Y6t. Adding to its rugged appeal, the Vivo Y500s is IP68 rated for submersion and IP69 rated for protection against high-pressure water jets. For audio enthusiasts, it includes stereo speakers with a unique one-button cleaning mode to expel water after accidental dunks. A convenient side-mounted fingerprint reader is also integrated for secure and quick unlocking.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y500s is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. While an older processor, it's built on a 4nm process and includes a 5G modem, ensuring modern connectivity. The device is available in multiple configurations, with the base model offering 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Vivo has also teased the upcoming Vivo Y600 Pro, which is set to boast an astonishing 10,200mAh battery. Like its Y500s sibling, the Y600 Pro will also carry IP68 and IP69 ratings, along with a 50MP camera. Certification details indicate that the Y600 Pro will support 80W fast charging, with its full reveal expected imminently.
Currently, the Vivo Y500s is available in Obsidian Black, Galaxy Silver, and Phoenix Gold. Promotional pricing offers a CNY 100 discount on the 12GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB variants, making the Y500s with its superior battery and camera an attractive proposition over the Y6t for an additional CNY 200.
For those impressed by the Vivo Y500s's offerings, the similarly specced Vivo Y500i is also worth considering.
