Spotify Explores AI Remixes: A Potential $5 Monthly Premium Add-On

Spotify is reportedly weighing a significant move into AI-powered music creation, with new reports suggesting the streaming giant is considering a $4 to $5 monthly subscription add-on for its innovative AI covers and remix features. This potential charge would be in addition to existing Premium subscription fees, which have recently seen increases.

This proposed AI tool aims to empower users to reimagine their favorite tracks, transforming folk songs into dance anthems or enabling artists to virtually cover each other's music. Crucially, the system is designed to ensure that royalties from these fan-generated remixes are directed to the original artists. Furthermore, Spotify is reportedly developing functionality to integrate these remixes into playlists, with their plays contributing to the performance metrics of the original songs on its charts.

The concept of premium tiers and paid extras for devoted fans has been circulating for some time. Previously, in early 2025, speculation pointed to a "Spotify Music Pro" tier that was expected to cost an additional $6 per month and feature song remixing capabilities. While that specific tier did not materialize, Spotify eventually incorporated lossless audio into its standard Premium offering without an additional charge.
