Sony Xperia 10 VIII: First Glimpse Reveals Familiar Design Ahead of August 25 Launch

Sony is gearing up to unveil a new Xperia device, with an official launch event scheduled for August 25th at 11 AM Japan time. While the company has remained tight-lipped about the exact product name, strong indicators point towards the imminent arrival of the Sony Xperia 10 VIII. Fresh off a Geekbench appearance, the upcoming smartphone has now surfaced in a purported official image, courtesy of Android Headlines, offering a tantalizing first look at its design.

The leaked image suggests that the Xperia 10 VIII will largely retain the design language of its predecessor, the Xperia 10 VII. The rear panel features a familiar dual-camera setup housed within a horizontal camera island, prominently displaying the Sony logo. Below the camera module, the NFC logo is also visible, confirming its inclusion. On the right-hand frame, the familiar layout of volume rockers and a power button, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, is evident. Notably, the Xperia 10 VII boasted a dedicated physical camera shutter button below the power key. However, this feature is obscured by the user's hand in the current image of the Xperia 10 VIII, leaving its presence or absence for this generation yet to be confirmed. Further imagery will be crucial to determine if Sony has maintained this dedicated camera control.

Beyond its aesthetic, insights from its Geekbench listing provide a glimpse into the internal specifications. The Sony Xperia 10 VIII is expected to ship with Android 16 out of the box and will be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC, the same chipset that featured in the previous model. The Geekbench-tested unit was equipped with 8GB of RAM, mirroring the Xperia 10 VII's single 8GB/128GB configuration. It remains to be seen if additional RAM or storage options will be offered.
