Apple's Advanced Siri AI: EU Launch Delayed Amid Regulatory Concerns
Apple's latest operating systems, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, introduced a highly anticipated Siri AI. However, users within the European Union (EU) have been left waiting, as this powerful new feature remains unavailable despite the software's widespread release.
Disappointing news has emerged regarding the timeline for Siri AI's EU debut. Renowned tech analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that a launch "anytime soon" is highly unlikely. This delay is reportedly part of Apple's strategic approach, aiming to leverage customer frustration to create pressure against the EU's regulatory framework.
The perceived strategy suggests Apple may be counting on EU customers, who paid for devices advertised with advanced AI capabilities, to voice their dissatisfaction with regulatory bodies. This, in turn, could prompt regulatory changes, allowing Apple to finally deliver the promised Siri AI functionality.
Gurman points to the rollout of "Apple Intelligence" as a precedent. This feature, launched outside the EU in October 2024, eventually reached EU markets in March 2025, marking a delay of approximately five months. Based on this pattern, Gurman predicts a similar five-month delay for Siri AI in an optimistic scenario. However, he cautions that a "considerably longer" wait is also a distinct possibility.
