Samsung has made it a tradition to release a new ringtone with every flagship launch. The Galaxy S series gets a new rendition of the company’s theme song, Over the Horizon. Theversion for the Galaxy S26 seriesis titled “A Soundtrack of the Earth” and was performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Foldables get a piece of classical music instead – the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 actually got four based onVivaldi’s The Four Seasons. For theGalaxy Z Fold8,Z Fold8 UltraandZ Flip8, Samsung chose Frédéric Chopin’s “Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op. 9, No. 2.” This is a symbolic choice as the Z8 foldables introduced the new One UI 9. The piece was performed by Yekwon Sunwoo, the first Korean to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2017. Sunwoo is also the Korean pianist with the most international competition wins. The recording was done at the Samsung Galaxy Sound Studios, which are located at the Samsung Seoul R&D Campus. Byeong Joon Hwang and Young Jae Jang of Sound Mirror Korea oversaw the mixing, while master piano technician Hyungu Kang tuned the piano.

“The nocturne evokes the stillness of the night and we wanted its gentle resonance to weave naturally into the rhythms of the day. We hope that encountering classical music in everyday life will create special moments for users,”said Myoung Woo Nam, Principal Sound Designer, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. The new ringtone is available on the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8 with One UI 9. It will be available to other Galaxy phones too, once they update to version 9 of the Samsung software. PS. If you like classical music, Samsung released a couple of ringtones for the Galaxy S26 series back in March – “Prélude” from Cello Suite No. 1 and “Alla Hornpipe” from Water Music Suite No. 2.
