Samsung's Premium Foldable W27 Teased: Launch Imminent

Samsung is gearing up for the debut of its latest ultra-premium, China-exclusive foldable, the W27. A leaked image has surfaced, offering a glimpse of the device's sophisticated design. Industry insiders suggest an unveiling date of October 29, with the W27 expected to mirror the impressive specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

The leaked photograph reveals the W27's rear panel, showcased in a deep, sophisticated dark blue. Accents of gold adorn the frame and the distinctive camera island, further enhanced by the W series' signature gold seal logo positioned near the bottom. The triple camera configuration and the prominent, pill-shaped island are consistent with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, reinforcing the notion that both devices share internal components.

For those unfamiliar with Samsung's W series, it represents an annual iteration of its flagship Fold device, specifically tailored for the Chinese market and exclusively distributed through China Telecom. These limited editions distinguish themselves with opulent design choices, often featuring a black and gold color palette, increased RAM compared to global counterparts, and a more generous retail package laden with exclusive accessories.

Last year's W26, based on the Galaxy Z Fold7, introduced advanced features such as satellite calling and messaging capabilities via China's Tiantong system. Both 512GB and 1TB storage variants of the W26 were equipped with 16GB of RAM and were available in striking red and black finishes, both complemented by elegant gold detailing.

Given that the W27 is essentially the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in a more luxurious guise, anticipate cutting-edge performance powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The device is expected to feature a spacious 8-inch foldable display, a 6.5-inch cover screen with a fluid 120Hz refresh rate, a high-resolution 200MP main camera, and a robust 5,000 mAh battery – all of which have been thoroughly evaluated in our Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra review. The Fold8 Ultra already boasts a 16GB RAM/1TB storage configuration, and drawing parallels with the W26, it's highly probable that the W27 will come standard with 16GB of RAM. Pricing details remain under wraps, but an announcement is anticipated within the coming week.
