Samsung unveils curved 49" 360Hz OLED gaming monitor, also a 27" 1,100Hz IPS LCD monitor

Gamescom 2026 started yesterday and Samsung unveiled four gaming monitors from the Odyssey line that boast some impressive specs – including one that can go up to 1,100Hz refresh rate. Yes, over a thousand hertz.

Starting with the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ), this is the world’s first 49” Dual QHD monitor with 360Hz refresh rate. It has a curved 5th gen QD-OLED panel, which is 1.3x more efficient than the previous generation while also having double the longevity. Pixels have a full RGB stripe for sharp text and the display can reach up to 1,300 nits on a 3% window in 4K resolution.

The G8 uses the Samsung Glare Free film that is 54% less glossy than traditional anti-reflection films. Also, it’s rated VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600 and supports both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync Compatible. There is one DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 to handle the high-resolution, high-refresh rate input, two HDMI ports for additional devices, one USB-C port with 98W USB Power Delivery and a built-in USB hub with two ports and KVM.

Then there’s the Samsung Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ), a curved (1000R) 16:9 OLED gaming monitor that has a 42” diagonal – that’s 72% more surface area than the 32” monitor. It has an OLED panel with 4K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.

That’s it for the monitors, but Samsung had another announcement as well. It has partnered with Activision Blizzard to bringHDR10+ Gaming to 20 AAA titles. This should be done by the first half of 2027 and it will start withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. HDR10+ is a royalty-free HDR standard supported by Samsung and others – it has a set of gaming features and there is alsoHDR10+ Advancedfor movies and TV shows. Source
