Samsung's Foldable Future: Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and Z Slide Details Emerge

Despite the recent quiet discontinuation of its pioneering Galaxy Z TriFold double-folding smartphone in Korea, Samsung is far from abandoning its ambitious multi-foldable vision. In fact, the tech giant is already deep into developing the successor, tentatively dubbed the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, with a highly anticipated launch penciled in for mid-2027.

Exciting leaks suggest the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 will represent a significant leap in design and portability. Insiders indicate this next-generation device will be notably thinner and lighter than its predecessor. To put this in perspective, the original TriFold measured a considerable 12.9mm when folded. The TriFold 2, however, is rumored to be only marginally thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which typically measures around 8.9mm when closed. This substantial reduction in thickness promises a far more ergonomic and pocket-friendly user experience for Samsung's advanced double-folding phone.

But Samsung's innovation doesn't stop at multi-folding designs. The company is also actively prototyping its groundbreaking sliding-screen smartphone. This revolutionary concept, likely to be known as the Galaxy Z Slide if it reaches commercial production, hints at an entirely new interaction paradigm for mobile devices. The current timeline suggests this experimental device could make its debut in late 2027 or early 2028, pending successful development and market readiness.
