Samsung to skip Exynos for the Galaxy A18's 4G and 5G models

The Samsung Galaxy A17's4Gand5Gmodels launched last year were powered by MediaTek's Helio G99 and Samsung's Exynos 1330 chips, respectively. However, a report byZDNet Koreaclaims that neither the 4G nor the 5G model of the Galaxy A18 will have an Exynos chip under the hood. The publication claims that the Samsung Galaxy A18 4G will be powered by a MediaTek chip, and the 5G model by a Qualcomm chip, without revealing the names of either. The reason Samsung skipped Exynos for the Galaxy A18 is likely cost.

Furthermore, the publication claims that Samsung will launch the Galaxy A18 4G first, followed by the Galaxy A18 5G months later. Samsung is expected to begin the mass production of the Galaxy A18 4G sometime in August. The Korean brand plans to produce 100,000 units of the Galaxy A18 4G in August, 2.4 million units in September, and 2.5 million units in October. Production plans could change depending on market conditions, though. Production for the Galaxy A18 5G will begin in accordance with Qualcomm's readiness. We don't have many details about the Samsung Galaxy A18 right now, but we know that its 4G version has the model designation SM-A185F, as itstest firmware was spotted on Samsung's server for Europe.
