Galaxy S27 Series: Samsung Ditches Variable Aperture Camera, Report Says

Recent reports suggest that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 series will forgo a feature rumored for Apple's next-generation iPhones. While initial speculation pointed towards the Galaxy S27 Ultra potentially adopting a 200MP main camera with variable aperture, a new dispatch from Korea indicates Samsung has ultimately decided against this technology for the entire S27 lineup.

The idea of a variable aperture main camera on Samsung's flagship was fueled by whispers about Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max potentially incorporating such a system. However, it appears Samsung will not be following this path for their next premium smartphone release.

This isn't the first time Samsung has experimented with variable aperture. The company previously integrated this technology into the Galaxy S9 (2018) and Galaxy S10 (2019) models. Despite its inclusion, the feature did not persist in subsequent generations, hinting at a past reappraisal of its practical benefits for their smartphone camera systems.
