Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold to be imminently discontinued

According to a new report from Samsung's home country of Korea, theGalaxy Z TriFold, the company's first double-folding smartphone, will be discontinued about three months after its launch. Samsung will allegedly end domestic sales of the device on March 17. The company has been notoriously selling out of the phone a bunch of times, as it's only produced it in incredibly small quantities. So there were only ever a few units available, which naturally sold out instantly.

The same source says sales will continue in the US, where the Galaxy Z TriFold became available later than in Korea, but only "until the current production volume is sold out". Since we assume that volume isn't high, if you're in the US and want a TriFold, now's the time to get it, before Samsung officially discontinues it there too. To say that this has been a rather strange launch would be an understatement. It's almost like Samsung's been selling a prototype production run, and nothing more - the small quantities of stock available point that way, as does discontinuation after only three months. Hopefully there will be a Galaxy Z TriFold 2 (nowthat'sa silly name), and it will feel more like a proper product and less like a prototype. Source(in Korean)
