Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2: Thinner Design Rumored with Innovative Hinge Technology
Initial reports suggest the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2 could boast a significantly thinner profile compared to its predecessor. The original Galaxy Z TriFold, launched in December and already phased out in several regions, measures between 3.9-4.2mm when unfolded and a substantial 12mm when folded. Whispers from the tech grapevine indicate that Samsung is working on a revamped hinge mechanism that will be instrumental in achieving this slimmer aesthetic for the second-generation foldable.
This cutting-edge hinge technology isn't exclusive to the TriFold 2. It's understood that Samsung plans to adapt and integrate variations of this innovative hinge into its future single-folding smartphone lineup as well. While it's still early to definitively say which upcoming single-fold models will feature this new hinge, or if it will be reserved for devices launching next year, the TriFold 2 itself is rumored for a mid-2027 release. It's unlikely Samsung would implement the new hinge on mainstream single-fold phones prior to the second-gen TriFold's debut.
