Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Specs Leaked: Helio G99 Power and Android 17 Confirmed?
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A18 is generating buzz as key specifications have surfaced via a Geekbench listing. While Samsung remains tight-lipped, this appearance offers an early glimpse into what the budget-friendly smartphone might offer.
Under the Hood: MediaTek Helio G99 Confirmed for 4G Model
The Geekbench database has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy A18, identified by the model code SM-A185G, will be powered by MediaTek's capable MT6789 octa-core chip. This chipset is widely recognized as the MediaTek Helio G99, a processor also found in its predecessor, the Galaxy A17 4G. This aligns with previous rumors suggesting a MediaTek chip for the 4G variant, with a Qualcomm chip anticipated for the 5G version.
Memory, OS, and Performance Benchmarks
The Geekbench listing also indicates that the Galaxy A18 unit tested features 4GB of RAM and is running Android 17. It's highly probable that this will be layered with Samsung's latest One UI interface, likely One UI 9. In performance tests, the device achieved scores of 745 in single-core and 2,073 in multi-core benchmarks, suggesting solid performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.
Multiple Variants and Design Hints
Beyond the SM-A185G model, evidence of another 4G variant, SM-A185F, has been found on Samsung's European servers. This model is also expected to feature the Helio G99 SoC. While the internal hardware sees a familiar processor, design leaks suggest minimal changes. Expect an Infinity-U notched display on the front and a clean, vertically oriented triple camera setup on the rear.
Production and Launch Outlook
The exact launch date for the Galaxy A18 remains unconfirmed. However, earlier reports suggest that Samsung might prioritize the launch of the Galaxy A18 4G, with the 5G variant to follow later. Mass production of the 4G model is reportedly slated to begin this month, with significant unit volumes planned for August, September, and October. These production figures are subject to market dynamics. The production timeline for the Galaxy A18 5G will depend on Qualcomm's component availability.
