Qualcomm is set to host its annualSnapdragon Summitnext month, where it is expected to unveiltwo new Snapdragon 8 Elite series chipsets. Ahead of the event, the company has confirmed that its upcoming flagship platform will be the first mobile CPU to hit 5GHz.
In anofficial blog post, Qualcomm revealed that its next-generation flagship mobile platform, expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro, will feature the company’s new Oryon CPU.

The new CPU will reach clock speeds of up to 5GHz and features a custom architecture with two prime cores and six performance cores.
While Qualcomm hasn’t disclosed the exact clock speeds of the individual cores, a recent leaksuggestedthat the two prime cores could run at 5.01GHz, while three performance cores will be clocked at 4.03GHz and the remaining three at 3.74GHz.

The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series will also introduce a new cache architecture called Oryon FlexCache.
According to Qualcomm, the new architecture lets all CPU cores share a common pool of cache memory, dynamically allocating it based on the workload.

This allows demanding tasks to access more cache when needed, reducing reliance on slower system memory and helping maintain performance.
Qualcomm says the new CPUs will enable faster app launches, improved Agentic AI and gaming performance, as well as faster multitasking and video editing.
