Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra announced

Starting off with the chipset, F9 Ultra brings the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which has been powering Android flagships for the last twelve months. The F9 Pro gets the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB). According to Qualcomm’s own documents, the V series version of the chip features a slightly watered-down GPU. It’s still an Adreno 840 but with one less GPU slice compared to the 8 Elite Gen 5 proper.

The F9 Ultra is configurable with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the F9 Pro maxes out at 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both phones feature AMOLED screens with fast 185Hz refresh rates and 4,500 nits peak brightness, with the one on the F9 Pro measuring 6.6 inches in diagonal while the F9 Ultra’s panel is 6.9 inches.

In terms of cameras, the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra share the same 200MP main shooter featuring a 1/1.56-inch sensor, but the Ultra gets the more capable 50MP periscope telephoto lens (ISOCELL JN5) and 50MP ultrawide (OV50M) compared to the Pro’s 2.5x telephoto and 8MP ultrawide modules.

F9 Ultra is equipped with a larger 8,050mAh Si-C battery, while the F9 Pro gets a 6,330 mAh cell. Both phones are rated at 100W wired, 50W wireless and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Both F9 series devices are IP68-rated against water and dust and boot Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 with 4 promised updates. Poco F9 Pro (12/256GB) starts at $699/€899.99, though Poco’s Early Bird pricing brings it down to $649/€739.99. Poco F9 Ultra (12/256GB) starts at $799/€1,099.99. Early Bird prices are $729/€829.99.
