Google Pixel Watch 5 Design Leaked: Submerged Prototype Reveals Key Details
Google's upcoming wearable, the Pixel Watch 5, has experienced an unconventional reveal. A prototype unit has surfaced from the ocean depths, offering an early glimpse of its design and features. This unexpected leak comes courtesy of Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox Software, who shared images of the device discovered during a scuba diving expedition.
The Pixel Watch 5 prototype was found near St. Martin in the Caribbean. Pitchford reported that while the main battery had depleted, the wearable still retained enough power to display the time – a fitting detail given its aquatic discovery.
From the front, the Pixel Watch 5 appears visually similar to its predecessor. However, the rear of the device provides more specific insights. Prominent markings reveal key specifications, including IP68 water and dust resistance. This certification clearly indicates the robust protection that has shielded the internal components from saltwater damage.
Further inscriptions confirm the device as the Pixel Watch 5 and denote a 45mm size. This measurement aligns with the larger variant of the previous generation, suggesting Google will continue to offer multiple size options for its smartwatch line.
