Samsung Galaxy A16 5G: One UI 9 Development Underway
Samsung has commenced internal testing of One UI 9, the next iteration of its custom Android interface, for the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. This development follows closely on the heels of the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the device just last month.
The specific build of One UI 9 identified on Samsung's servers for the Galaxy A16 5G carries the firmware version A166BXXU8EZF1. Currently, this testing phase appears to be concentrated on the European market. However, users should temper their expectations regarding an imminent public release. Samsung is prioritizing the deployment of One UI 9, beginning with beta programs for flagship devices like the Galaxy S26 series, which are expected to receive the stable update first.
Adding to the anticipation, Samsung has previously indicated that its forthcoming foldable smartphones will be the inaugural devices to ship with One UI 9 out of the box. Industry speculation points to the unveiling of three new foldables this year: the Galaxy Z Flip8, the Galaxy Z Fold8, and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. These devices are rumored to be officially announced on July 22nd during an event hosted in London.
Beyond the Galaxy A16 5G, Samsung's One UI 9 development efforts are also reportedly underway for other upcoming and existing models. These include the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy A17 5G, the Galaxy A34, the Galaxy A57, and the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy S26 FE.
