Motorola Edge (2026) Unveiled for US & Canada: A Compact Shift in Flagship Design
The highly anticipated Motorola Edge (2026) has arrived for the US and Canadian markets, showcasing a surprising shift in design philosophy. Breaking from recent trends of larger screens, this new iteration features a more compact 6.3-inch OLED display. This move deviates from its predecessors, the Edge (2024) and Edge (2025), which boasted 6.6-inch and 6.7-inch screens respectively, marking a distinct change for the North American Edge series.
Vibrant Display and Enhanced Visuals
At its core, the Edge (2026) features a vibrant 6.3-inch "Extreme OLED" panel. This display offers a sharp 1.5K resolution, a fluid 120Hz refresh rate, and an astounding peak brightness of 5,200 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright conditions.
Performance & Software Experience
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge (2026) is powered by the Dimensity 7450 chipset. While this represents a modest upgrade from the Dimensity 7400 in the previous Edge (2025), offering an approximate 7% boost in AI performance, the memory configuration is noteworthy. The device includes 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, but storage capacity is set at 128GB, which is half the amount offered in the 2025 model.
Motorola commits to providing three major Android OS updates for the Edge (2026), a commendable offering for its lineup. The device also integrates Smart Connect, Motorola's proprietary utility designed for seamless file and application syncing across devices.
Advanced Camera System
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Motorola Edge (2026)'s robust camera system. It features a powerful dual 50MP setup on the rear. The primary camera boasts a Lytia 710 (1/1.56-inch) sensor, complete with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and 4K video recording capabilities. Complementing this is a 50MP ultrawide lens, offering a vast 122-degree field of view and a versatile Macro Vision mode for close-up shots. A third 50MP camera handles selfie duties on the front, ensuring high-resolution self-portraits.
Robust Battery & Durability Features
Powering the device is a substantial 5,000mAh battery, supporting rapid charging solutions. Users can benefit from 60W TurboPower wired charging, which can deliver a full day's charge in an impressive 7 minutes. Additionally, 15W TurboPower wireless charging is available, providing similar endurance in about 34 minutes. While the battery capacity is slightly less than the Edge (2025), it's optimized for the smaller 6.3-inch display, offering efficient power management for its compact form factor.
Durability is a key focus for the Motorola Edge (2026). The front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, enhancing resistance against everyday wear. The device also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water submersion, alongside an IP69 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets. Motorola further emphasizes that this model boasts double the drop and scratch resistance compared to its predecessor, ensuring a robust build.
