MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 7450X chips
There's no CPU upgrade as both chipsets employ the same octa-core setup that consists of 4x Cortex-A78 cores ticking at 2.6 GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. The GPU is also still Mali-G615 MC2.
MediaTek highlights an improvement in AI power. It's up by 7%, and the company says it's particularly noticeable in photography-related AI tasks.
Connectivity is the main upgrade in the two new SoCs. They now make use of the new 5G R17 modem, replacing the R16 one in the predecessors. The new modem promises better power efficiency, improved performance by utilizing 3CC carrier aggregation and also performance by 20% when in transit. The new chips are supposed to recover network connection faster when exiting a dead zone.
The first devices with these SoCs will hit the market in the next few months.
