The "Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6", which we assume means the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975), will be fabbed on TSMC’s new 2nm node (N2P). The CPU will crack the 5GHz barrier with its two Prime cores clocked at 5.01GHz. The 8-core CPU will be organized as such: 2x 5.01GHz + 3x 4.03GHz + 3x 3.74GHz. For comparison, the 8 Elite Gen 5 CPU cores are clocked as follows: 2x 4.61GHz + 6x 3.63GHz.
MediaTek’sDimensity 9600 Prowill also be made on the N2P node. However, it will use Arm-designed cores.DCSlists them as 2x 4.55GHz Canyon + 3x 4.35GHz Gelas-b + 3x 3.10GHz Gelas.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, Dimensity 9600 Pro specs.
Now, these aren’t official yet, but we think that “Canyon” is the code name for the Arm C2-Ultra, “Gelas-b” should be the C2-Premium, while “Gelas” should be the older C1-Pro.
Moving on to GPUs, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will use the Adreno 850. This should be a 3-slice GPU with 18MB of graphics memory. Additionally, the chipset will have 8MB of Last Level Cache (LLC).
As you may have heard, Qualcomm will releasetwo Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipsets– the above is for the top-of-the-line Pro model. The non-Pro model (SM8950) will have a similar 2+3+3 CPU (clock speed details are unclear) and an Adreno 845 GPU. Like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chip, this will be a two-thirds GPU with 2 slices and 12MB of graphics memory. The LLC will be reduced to 6MB.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro will use the Arm G2-Ultra NX MC12 GPU – this is the same GPU that we saw on the Xiaomi Xring O3 chip. It’s a 16-core GPU split into two clusters – 8 traditional GPU cores and 8 with NX tensor acceleration (for use with image upscaling, frame gen and so on in gaming).
