Lava Launches Budget-Friendly Virat V1 and Virat V1 5G in India

Lava has officially unveiled its new Virat smartphone series, a collection tailored for young, online-savvy consumers. Teaming up with Flipkart, the Indian manufacturer has introduced two compelling models: the Virat V1 and the Virat V1 5G. Both devices aim to deliver solid features at an accessible price point, falling under the ₹15,000 mark.

Leading the charge is the Lava Virat V1 5G. This model is equipped with the Unisoc T8200 processor, complemented by 4GB of RAM. Storage comes in at 64GB, expandable via microSD card up to a generous 1TB. Running on Android 16, Lava promises an ad-free and bloatware-free user experience, though details on long-term software support are yet to be confirmed.

The Virat V1 5G sports a 6.75-inch HD+ display featuring a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. A discreet notch houses the 5MP selfie camera. For photography, the rear houses a dual-camera system, headlined by a 13MP main sensor.

Powering the device is a substantial 6,000 mAh battery, rechargeable via USB-C at 10W. Notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a convenient side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a dedicated microSD card slot, Bluetooth 5.0, and an IP64 rating for basic dust and water resistance.

The Lava Virat V1 5G will be available in Arya Blue and Sonar Gold. Sales commence on July 31st via Lava's official website and Flipkart. Priced at ₹12,999, it will be offered at an introductory price of ₹11,999 on the first day of the sale.

For those prioritizing cost savings and not requiring 5G, the Lava Virat V1 presents an attractive alternative. It's powered by the Unisoc SC9863A chipset and runs Android 15 Go Edition, also boasting Lava's commitment to an ad-free and bloatware-free interface.

The RAM and internal storage mirror the 5G variant, with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, though the microSD expansion is capped at 256GB. The display is identical in size and resolution – a 6.75-inch HD+ notched panel – but with a 90Hz refresh rate.
