iPhone 18 Pro & Pro Max: Aggressive Pricing Strategy on the Horizon?
The global RAM shortage continues to cast a long shadow over the smartphone market, impacting pricing across the board. However, fresh insights from analyst Jeff Pu suggest that Apple may be charting a different course with its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, hinting at an "aggressive pricing" strategy.
While specific price points remain elusive, this projection builds on previous reports from Ming-Chi Kuo. These earlier analyses indicated that the base models of both Pro variants would retain the same launch prices as their predecessors. In the US, this translates to a starting price of $1,099 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Interestingly, this "aggressive pricing" may not extend to all configurations. There's speculation that higher storage tiers or other upgrades on the iPhone 18 Pro models could see price increases. It also remains to be seen whether this strategy will be uniformly applied across all international markets.
This approach could be a deliberate move by Apple to maintain the perception of stable pricing for its flagship devices by keeping the "from" price consistent. This would allow them to absorb some of the increased component costs, such as RAM, by making the higher-end configurations more expensive.
This nuanced pricing strategy is certainly an intriguing prospect. The industry will be watching closely to see if this rumor holds true and, if so, how effective Apple's approach will be in managing costs and consumer perception.
