iPhone 18 Pro Series Faces Unwanted Discoloration Concerns
Early users of the highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reporting a recurring paint issue, reminiscent of problems encountered with last year's models. The issue primarily affects the new Burgundy color, with some Black units also showing signs of discoloration.

Reports surfacing on platforms like Reddit indicate that the paint on the iPhone 18 Pro series begins to fade, particularly around the camera lenses. This pale discoloration then appears to spread across the aluminum frame of the device. This phenomenon mirrors the issues seen with the Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue finishes on the iPhone 17 Pro models last year.
Speculation abounds regarding the cause, with many users suggesting prolonged exposure to UV light as a potential culprit, given that the discoloration often becomes apparent after outdoor use. Some users are already adopting a preventative measure by keeping their devices in cases.

While it's disheartening to see these reports emerge so soon after launch, it's worth noting that Apple addressed similar concerns last year. Historically, the company has opted to replace affected devices. We recommend waiting for an official statement from Apple regarding this discoloration issue. Our own iPhone 18 Pro Max unit in Burgundy has not yet exhibited any signs of fading, though it has been handled with considerable care and has not experienced extensive outdoor exposure.
