iPhone 18 Leaks: Two Key Upgrades Expected, But Prepare for a Price Jump
Whispers from the East are suggesting that the upcoming iPhone 18 is poised for significant advancements, aiming to bring the standard model closer to its Pro siblings. A prominent leak originating from China indicates that the iPhone 18 will receive notable boosts in both performance and battery life.
While Apple surprised many by exclusively launching Pro variants this year, emerging reports point to the return of the standard iPhone models in early 2027. If these leaks hold true, the extended anticipation for the base iPhone 18 might just be justified, thanks to two substantial upgrades on the horizon.
One of the most welcome changes is anticipated to be an improvement in battery endurance. This won't just be a byproduct of a more power-efficient chipset; sources suggest the battery capacity itself is set to increase. Powering these advancements will be a potentially re-tuned Apple A20 SoC, leveraging TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm manufacturing process for enhanced performance and efficiency.
However, not all news is positive. Disappointingly, the sleeker, smaller Dynamic Island, a distinguishing feature of the iPhone 18 Pro series, is expected to remain exclusive to those higher-end models. Furthermore, the iPhone 18 is reportedly facing another price increase. While industry-wide price hikes are becoming common, this follows a $100 price bump experienced by last year's iPhone 17, making the prospect of another increase particularly noteworthy.
