Huawei Mate X8 Leaked: Key Specifications Hint at Impressive Upgrades

Just months after the Huawei Mate X7 made its debut, whispers from China suggest its successor, the Huawei Mate X8, is on the horizon. If these latest leaks hold true, we could see the next-generation foldable unveiled as early as next month, boasting a suite of significant enhancements over its predecessor.

Display and Camera Innovations

The Huawei Mate X8 is rumored to feature a substantial 6.5-inch cover display, complemented by an expansive 8.15-inch inner folding screen. Photography enthusiasts will likely be excited by the camera setup, which is said to include a potent 50MP main camera utilizing a large 1/1.28" type sensor with a versatile variable aperture. Joining this is another impressive 50MP periscope telephoto camera, promising enhanced zoom capabilities. Powering these features will be a substantial battery, reportedly with a capacity of at least 6,000 mAh, addressing one of the common concerns with foldable devices.

Performance and Privacy Features

Under the hood, the Mate X8 is expected to be driven by the cutting-edge Kirin 9050 and Kirin 9050 Pro chipsets, with different variants of the device offering either one. A standout feature mentioned in the leaks is a novel Privacy Display, reminiscent of the technology seen on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year. The specifics of this feature are still emerging, with uncertainty surrounding whether it will apply to both the internal and external displays.

What to Expect from the Mate X8

Compared to the Mate X7, the Mate X8 appears poised for a compelling upgrade. Early indications point towards:

Slightly larger displays for both cover and inner screens.
A more powerful, next-generation SoC.
A significantly larger battery capacity.
The intriguing new Privacy Display functionality.

While these are based on leaked specifications, further details are anticipated as the launch approaches. Stay tuned for more updates on the Huawei Mate X8.
