Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Benchmarked: Kirin 9050 Pro Performance Unveiled
Following the recent launch of its Mate 90 series in China, the higher-tier Mate 90 Pro Max and RS variants are confirmed to house Huawei's newest Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. While official specifications were kept somewhat under wraps, a recent Geekbench 7 benchmark run for the Mate 90 Pro Max provides a tantalizing glimpse into the chipset's capabilities.
The benchmarked Mate 90 Pro Max (model CMM-AL10) registered an average of 1,317 points in single-core tests and 5,381 points in multi-core tests. At the time of reporting, the highest recorded scores reached 1,528 for single-core and 6,169 for multi-core. These figures suggest that the Kirin 9050 Pro's CPU performance positions it competitively between Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (2021) and the subsequent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Further details gleaned from the Geekbench listing reveal the Kirin 9050 Pro's architecture. It features a nine-core CPU configuration, highlighted by a prime "ultra" core operating at 3.1GHz. This is complemented by six performance cores running at 2.7GHz and 2.2GHz, and two efficiency cores clocked at 1.75GHz. Graphics processing is handled by a Maleoon 955 GPU, equipped with six cores operating at 1.05 GHz.
Rumors from Bernstein Research suggest that the Kirin 9050 Pro is manufactured using a 7nm-class process node, potentially leveraging SMIC's N+2 or N+3 process technology. It's important to note that Huawei has not officially confirmed these manufacturing details, but they represent the current understanding of the chipset's production.
