Here's how Android, iOS, and Harmony OS rank globally

Counterpoint Research (CR) just releasedits report about the best-selling smartphones in the worldin the second quarter of this year (April to June), but it also revealed how mobile operating systems are doing. The following is based on Q2 smartphone shipment data, so the percentages aren't of devices in use, but of handsets shipped during that specific quarter. Globally, Android is king with a 75% share, up from 73% in Q1. iOS follows with 20%, down from 22% in Q1. In third and last place is Huawei's HarmonyOS, which has managed to capture a 5% share, just like it did in Q1.

In the US, iOS led with 51%, but Android is getting closer and closer with its 49% share. iOS' biggest share was in Q4 2025, when it hit a whopping 69%.

Over in China, Android is first with a 58% share of the pie (down from 63% in Q1), but it's not followed by iOS. Instead, HarmonyOS is in second place with a 24% share, up from 19% in Q1. iOS is in third place with 18%, up slightly from 17% in Q1.

Finally, let's talk India, where it's not even close. The discrepancy between Android and iOS is gigantic, with the former basically ruling the market with a 91% share (up from 90% in Q1), while Apple has to make do with just 9% (down from 10% in Q1).

CR says the global smartphone market shipments declined by 11% in Q2 compared to the same period last year. Unsurprisingly, shipments fell the most in the entry-level and mid-tier segments, especially in emerging markets. Source
