While these new Motorola smartphones will initially ship with the manufacturer's standard Android interface, users will have the flexibility to switch to GrapheneOS. This collaboration signifies a proactive approach from both GrapheneOS and Motorola, empowering users with enhanced privacy and security options.

What to Expect from Motorola's GrapheneOS-Ready Devices

The official GrapheneOS support will extend to Motorola's 2027 flagship lineup. This includes a standard, non-folding device, rumored to be the successor to the highly-regarded "Signature." Following this, the next-generation Razr Fold and Razr Ultra models are also slated to receive GrapheneOS compatibility.

These devices are expected to feature top-tier Snapdragon chipsets. The choice of these powerful processors is driven by their superior CPU and GPU performance, as well as the inclusion of essential isolated components on the System on Chip (SoC) that are crucial for GrapheneOS's advanced security features.

Commitment to Long-Term Security and Updates

Motorola's upcoming flagships with GrapheneOS support are engineered to meet and surpass the stringent requirements set by the GrapheneOS project. A key highlight of this commitment is the provision of seven years of "proper updates", ensuring devices remain secure and up-to-date for an extended period.

Notably, Motorola is actively involved in the porting process, undertaking a substantial portion of the work to bring GrapheneOS to their devices. This hands-on approach underscores Motorola's dedication to offering enhanced security and privacy to its user base.
