Google Pixel 11a Leaks Hint at Significant Upgrades, Including Next-Gen Tensor Chipset
Speculation surrounding Google's upcoming "a-series" smartphone, the Pixel 11a, is heating up thanks to a credible leaker who has shared purported specifications. If these rumors prove accurate, the Pixel 11a could represent a substantial leap forward for the budget-friendly line, potentially becoming the best iteration to date. A particularly surprising detail is the anticipated chipset, a departure from previous generations.
The previous model, the Pixel 10a released in March 2026, faced criticism for utilizing the Tensor G4 chipset, a component already present in the Pixel 9a. This made the 10a feel too similar to its predecessor. However, fresh rumors suggest the Pixel 11a might feature the cutting-edge Tensor G6 chipset. Early insights into the Tensor G6, linked to Pixel 11 leaks, paint an impressive picture, with possibilities of it being the first 2nm chip on the market. While the main Pixel 11 family is expected to launch on August 12, the Pixel 11a is likely still several months away, with a probable release in March 2027.
Beyond the chipset, the leaker, identified as Mystic Leaks, has revealed other potential specifications for the Pixel 11a, which carries the internal codename "Formosan." The device is reportedly equipped with a 6.30-inch 1080p display boasting exceptional brightness levels, reaching a peak of 2,250 nits and a maximum of 3,350 nits, alongside official HDR support. The Pixel 11a is expected to retain a base of 8GB of RAM. For battery life, the alleged minimum capacity is 4,870 mAh. While this "minimum capacity" wording might cause confusion, it's common for battery specs to list a rated minimum alongside a typical value. It's probable the Pixel 11a will either match the 5,100 mAh typical capacity of the Pixel 10a or see a slight reduction to around 5,000 mAh.
While the Pixel 11a may indeed house the Tensor G6, it's more likely to be a slightly optimized or "lower binned" version. Even with potential performance adjustments, other key features like the rumored MediaTek M90 modem are expected to be included. Furthermore, whispers suggest the Pixel 11a will adopt the Titan M3 security chip, aligning it with the broader Pixel 11 lineup.
Another leak points to an upgraded front camera for the Pixel 11a, though specific details are scarce, with only a codename, "dokkaebi," being shared. Lastly, the leaked color options for the Pixel 11a are rumored to include black, green, purple, and silver.
