Google is working on HDR emoji for Chat

Google Gears Up for Visually Richer Chat with HDR Emoji

In a move that promises to elevate your digital conversations, Google appears to be preparing to introduce High Dynamic Range (HDR) emoji to its Google Chat platform. Discovered during an APK teardown of the latest Gmail application, this innovative feature suggests a significant visual upgrade for the successor to Google Hangouts, a key component of the Google Workspace suite.

The unearthed code snippet within the Gmail build explicitly mentions the capability to "display-supported emoji in high dynamic range (HDR) with enhanced brightness and contrast." This suggests that the forthcoming HDR emoji will boast a more vibrant and detailed appearance, enhancing both their visual impact and legibility on compatible displays.

While the exact scope of this feature remains to be fully detailed by Google, the terminology hints at a potential enhancement for all "supported emoji," not just custom ones. This could mean a widespread rollout that benefits the entire emoji library, provided users are on devices that support HDR technology. Although Google has yet to make official announcements, the presence of these code strings strongly indicates that HDR emoji for Google Chat is on the horizon, set to bring a new level of visual fidelity to your messaging experience.
