Fortnite Makes Triumphant Global Return to Google Play Store
Gamers worldwide can rejoice! After an extensive legal saga spanning over five and a half years, Epic Games' immensely popular battle royale title, Fortnite, is officially making its long-awaited return to the Google Play Store. This significant development means Android users across the globe can once again download the free-to-play phenomenon directly from Google's official app marketplace.
The timing couldn't be better, as Fortnite's global re-listing coincides perfectly with the launch of its exciting new Battle Royale Season, "Fortnite Showdown." Players can dive straight into the latest content, challenges, and cosmetic items immediately upon downloading the game. This move completes a broader re-entry strategy, following Fortnite's return to the US Google Play Store in December and its re-appearance on the Apple App Store last May.
Fortnite was controversially removed from both Google Play and the Apple App Store in August 2020. This drastic action was a direct consequence of Epic Games' attempt to bypass the established platform payment systems by implementing its own direct payment option for in-game purchases. The ensuing legal battles, particularly the high-profile antitrust case against Google, have now seemingly reached a resolution allowing for the game's official re-platforming.
