For context, back in July, Nikkei Asia reported that Apple had asked its suppliers tomake around 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026. Then in September, analyst Jeff Pu said thatonly 6 million units will be produced this yearbecause of hinge production constraints. That's the catch with the new target too. The actual output will depend on assembly progress, following earlier reports of manufacturing difficulties affecting assembly, displays, and hinges. So higher orders won't automatically translate to more phones in stores, althoughshipping dates have been pulled forwardfor many people who pre-ordered. The source of this report forecasts that global foldable shipments will grow 25.7% in 2026 and 59.1% in 2027 (compared to 7.4% in 2025), with Apple's entry contributing to that expansion. The iPhone Duo goes on sale tomorrow, October 23, starting at $1,999 in the US, though Apple haswarned of limited walk-in stockon launch day and hascapped purchases at two per person. Source|Via
