Apple Adjusts iPhone Pricing: Key Models See Notable Increases

In a surprising move following the recent unveilings of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and the innovative iPhone Duo foldable, Apple has implemented a price adjustment for several of its existing iPhone models. This update impacts the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and the iPhone 16.

Each of these affected devices is now commanding a price tag that is $100 higher than their original launch prices. For instance, the base model iPhone 17 now has a starting price of $899 in the United States.

Further price adjustments include the iPhone 17e, which now begins at $699, and the iPhone Air, with a new starting price of $1,099. The iPhone 16, specifically its 128GB base model in the US, is now priced at $799.

This price hike is not confined to a single market and is being observed across all regions where these iPhone models are currently offered.

Typically, Apple tends to reduce the prices of older iPhone generations after a new lineup is introduced. However, this instance represents an unusual price increase, reportedly attributed to the ongoing challenges in the memory supply chain. This isn't an isolated event, as Apple has recently revised pricing upwards for other product categories, including Macs, iPads, and HomePods.

In India, these new price points translate to a starting price of INR 99,900 (approximately $1,050) for the iPhone 17, and INR 1,49,900 (approximately $1,575) for the iPhone Air. The iPhone 17e starts at INR 79,900 (around $840), while the iPhone 16 is now available from INR 89,900 (about $945).
