vivo X300 Ultra Debuts at MWC: A Global Camera Powerhouse Revealed

The highly anticipated vivo X300 Ultra, a flagship device focused on unparalleled camera capabilities, made an appearance at MWC. While not a full commercial launch, this exclusive preview offered a glimpse into vivo's future mobile photography ambitions. Crucially, the X300 Ultra is slated for a global release, marking a significant milestone as the first "Ultra" series phone from vivo to venture beyond China.

Although the complete design and core specifications remain under wraps, vivo did unveil the X300 Ultra's groundbreaking camera hardware. The star of the show is the impressive vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen2 Ultra, boasting an industry-leading 400mm equivalent focal range. This doubles the zoom capabilities of its predecessor and enables an astonishing 17x optical zoom.

Leveraging in-sensor zoom cropping, the combined zoom potential of the X300 Ultra and its teleconverter extends to an incredible 800mm. vivo asserts that this new setup supports full 200MP optical output, maintaining exceptional image quality even with a 1600mm digital crop.

Beyond the advanced telephoto system, vivo also introduced the innovative Camera Cage. This accessory cleverly transforms the X300 Ultra into a professional-grade portable video rig. It provides ample mounting points for essential tools such as a flash, a multi-level cooling fan, and a tripod. Furthermore, the cage integrates physical shutter buttons and convenient quick-release ports for enhanced control and usability.

While official camera specifications are yet to be confirmed, recent rumors suggest the X300 Ultra will feature a cutting-edge 200MP main camera powered by Sony’s LYT901 sensor. This is expected to be complemented by a 200MP periscope telephoto module utilizing Samsung's HPB sensor. Additionally, whispers indicate the inclusion of a 50MP Sony LYT828 ultrawide lens and a dedicated multispectral sensor, promising a truly comprehensive imaging experience.
