Nothing OS 4.0 Based on Android 16 Arrives on More Devices

Following the initial release for the Nothing Phone (3), Nothing is expanding its Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 update to the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro.

This major update brings a host of improvements and new features designed to enhance the user experience. Let's dive into some of the key changes.

Key Features and Improvements in Nothing OS 4.0

Nothing OS 4.0 introduces a range of new features, including:

  • AI Usage Dashboard: Track AI large model usage for improved privacy transparency. Accessible via Settings > Intelligence toolkit > AI usage.
  • Hidden Apps: Directly hide apps from the home screen and app drawer. Access them through Home screen > App drawer > Hidden icons.
  • App Drawer Search Scope: Manage the search scope within the App drawer for more focused results.
  • Widget Customization: Enjoy more size options for Weather, Pedometer, and Screen Time widgets.
  • QuickSettings Tiles: 2x2 size support for most QuickSettings tiles.
  • Enhanced Pop-up View: Pop-up view now features two floating icons for easier switching between apps.
  • System Upgrade Optimization: Improved app startup speed through app optimization, found in Settings > Apps > App optimisation.

The stable Nothing OS 4.0 update is currently rolling out to a limited number of Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro users. A wider release will follow if the initial rollout proves successful.

Important: It's recommended to update Essential Space to the latest version to fully utilize the improved Flip to Record feature. Backing up your data before installing the update is also strongly advised.
