Nothing OS 4.0: Lock Screen Ads Gone for Some, But Not All

Initial reports suggested that Nothing OS 4.0, the latest iteration based on Android 16, introduced a feature called "Lock Glimpse." This functionality effectively displayed advertisements on the lock screen, a move that quickly sparked controversy among users of the Nothing Phone (3a), Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite.

Despite the ability to technically disable the ads, user feedback consistently pointed to a significant drain on battery life, even when the feature was not actively being viewed. This has led to considerable user dissatisfaction.

In response to the backlash, Nothing has announced a significant change to its strategy. The company is removing the Lock Glimpse feature from the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. However, the catch is that Lock Glimpse will persist on the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite and will be integrated into future CMF phone models.
