A quarter of all new iPhones are now made in India

According to a new report fromBloomberg News, 25% of all new iPhones are now made in India. An estimated 55 million iPhones were manufactured in India last year, up from 36 million in 2024. India’s rise as a top iPhone manufacturing hub began back in2017with theiPhone SE, with theiPhone 6sjoining it a year later.

Back then, Apple’s primary goal was to evade India’s high import fees on goods manufactured in China, but Cupertino soon fell in the midst of the budding US-China trade war, which forced it to expand its iPhone manufacturing to more regions outside of China. From then on, iPhone manufacturing in India has steadily expanded as Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron began assembling all key iPhone models in the months after their announcements. The iPhone 15 signaled ashift, becoming the first iPhone to be assembled in India and available locally from day one.

India has been bolstering local manufacturing incentives and is shaping up to become Apple’s key production hub for iPhones, with all new iPhone 17 series devices sold in the US marketreportedlyassembled in India.
