Secure Digital Wallet for Enhanced Financial Inclusion

HMD's innovative digital wallet aims to provide secure and accessible remittance services, enabling users to receive, store, and cash out funds seamlessly through local payment systems. This groundbreaking service is scheduled to launch in India during the first half of the year, paving the way for a broader global expansion. Emphasizing robust security, HMD has incorporated device-level PIN protection and revealed that the digital wallet is a collaborative effort with fintech firm Kivi3 and blockchain specialists Polygon Labs.

AI Assistant Enhances Feature Phone Usability

The pervasive influence of Artificial Intelligence is now extending to feature phones, with HMD leading the charge. Through a strategic partnership with India's Sarvam AI, HMD is developing a dedicated AI assistant designed to empower users with voice-activated control over essential functions. Expect to perform tasks like making calls, setting alarms, and activating the torch, all via voice commands. Furthermore, HMD plans to offer an AI chat experience for handling simple queries, making feature phones more intuitive than ever.

AI Companion for Elderly Users & Advanced Messaging

Beyond the core AI assistant, HMD is also piloting an AI companion specifically designed for elderly users. This collaborative project with InTouch aims to provide tailored companionship, with trial testing commencing in Europe before a worldwide rollout. Complementing these advancements, HMD is introducing an improved messaging experience with its new Xpress Chat app. This app will facilitate video conferencing using the front-facing camera and will also support voice messaging, group chats, and photo sharing, bringing richer communication to feature phones.
