Google Pixel 10a: First Official Render Surfaces, Unveiling Familiar Design and Key Specs
The first official render of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 10a has made its way online, offering a clear glimpse of what to expect from Google's next budget-friendly smartphone. While the design might feel familiar, a closer look reveals subtle refinements and confirmation of key specifications.
It's no surprise that the Pixel 10a doesn't sport a revolutionary new look. This strategy aligns with Google's stated approach of redesigning its Pixel lineup every 2-3 years. Given that the Pixel 9a introduced design changes, the Pixel 11a is the earliest we might see a significant aesthetic overhaul. This consistency, however, can be a positive, especially for those who appreciate a compact device. The Pixel 10a is set to feature a 6.3-inch display (precisely 6.285 inches), a screen size that's becoming less common, particularly in its competitive price segment. As expected for a more affordable device, the bezels are noticeable but do not detract from the overall appeal.
One of the standout design elements remains the nearly flush camera module. This contributes to a cleaner aesthetic and easier handling. The camera system itself continues to be a dual-lens setup, appearing slightly larger in the new renders. Leaked specifications suggest a robust camera configuration, featuring a 48MP main sensor (f/1.7 aperture) and a 13MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2 aperture). These specs promise excellent photography capabilities for everyday use.
The display technology is confirmed to be a vibrant 6.3-inch OLED panel. While it will boast a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, it will not feature LTPO technology, which is typical for this tier of smartphone. Powering the device is expected to be a substantial 5,100mAh battery, identical to its predecessor, supported by 23W charging. This indicates a focus on delivering consistent battery performance without major upgrades in this area.
While the Pixel 9a was launched in mid-March, rumors point to an earlier debut for the Pixel 10a. The latest whispers suggest the device could be available by mid-February. Consumers will have a choice of four appealing colorways: Obsidian, Berry, Fog, and Lavender. This new palette offers a fresh selection compared to the Pixel 9a's Obsidian, Peony, Porcelain, and Iris options.
