Apple’s second-gen AirTag brings improved Precision Finding, better range and louder speaker

The “new AirTag” brings Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. It’s the same chip found in the iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11 smartwatches, and it unlocks improved Precision Finding, which can now guide users to their lost items from 50% farther away. Apple Watch Series 9 or later, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later users can now use Precision Finding on their watches. Apple also added an upgraded Bluetooth chip to the second-generation AirTag, which expands the range at which users can locate items. The other addition is a louder speaker, which is 50% louder than before. The new AirTag is still powered by a single CR2032 coin cell battery, which is user-replaceable.

Pricing is the same price as before -$29/€35/£29for a single AirTag and$99/€119/£99for a four-pack. The 2nd-gen AirTag is available for order today, with free personalized engraving options available from the Apple Store. Source
